MUED 4290: Seminar in Music Education (3)

This course is designed to be the 'capstone' course in music education to explore the philosophies, teaching methods, materials, and curriculum at both the elementary/general music and the middle/senior high school levels. Focus will be on the design and implementation of the instrumental and vocal performance-based curriculum at the secondary level and the general music curriculum for students in related arts courses, music theory and composition classes music listening and music history classes at the secondary level, as well s the general music curriculum for the elementary classroom. In addition to exploring teaching strategies and curriculum development, students will study evaluation tools and methodologies which are content specific. Students will also be given practical guidance in the administration of a comprehensive music program. Pre-requisites: MUED 3210, MUED 3240, MUED 4210, MUED 4220 and MUED 4230 Co-requisite: MUED 4280
