ART 1100: Art Appreciation (3)

Students completing this course will gain a broad awareness, understanding and appreciation of art and art media across cultures and over time. Students will build the vocabulary and conceptual framework necessary to analyze and discuss art by developing a working knowledge of the characteristics, purposes and formal language of drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, architecture, and other forms of visual media. Students will also investigate the influence of visual arts on politics, history, religion, science, and society. Note: successful completion of ART 1100 fulfills the Humanities and Fine Arts or Philosophy portion of the Core Curriculum Are C requirement.
