This course will investigate contemporary military institutions using sociological theory, concepts, and methods. It looks at the changing social organization of the military, civil-military relations, military recruitment and socialization, the military as a profession, modern warfare, and the role of the military in various nations. Pre-requisite: SOCI 1101
