RUSS 1002: Beginning Russian II (4)

This is an elementary course for students with minimal previous knowledge of the Russian Language. It is also designed for near-beginners to acquire basic fluency in the target language. Emphasis is on speaking and understanding, with some attention to reading and writing. The mastery of basic skills will be achieved through intensive aural-oral exercises and practice. Students are required to study a textbook and listen to audio files prior to meeting in groups with an assigned native-speaking tutor throughout the semester. Class time is dedicated primarily to interactive exercises. Language skills will also be developed through language laboratory assignments. Secondary emphasis is placed on providing information that will enhance the students' knowledge of the Russian culture. This course will meet for three (3) hours per week in the classroom and will be supplemented with additional instruction online and/or in the language laboratory.
