PSYC 3400: Sport Psychology (3)

Sport and exercise psychology is a phenomenon quickly gaining popularity in many cultures. This course is designed to provide an introduction to the theoretical constructs and empirical research that inform psychological aspects of sport and exercise. Emphases will involve (1) the psychological factors that affect individual behavior in sport and exercise contexts and (2) the impact of sport, exercise and physical activity upon psychological functioning. The field of sport psychology is best understood by practicing the skills learned in class. This course is designed to be an applied class, where students will gain a better understanding of the mental aspects of performance by identifying and reflecting through journals. Pre-requisite: PSYC 1101
