NURS 1020: Nutrition Therapy (1)

This course introduces the student to the principles of the science of nutritional support. The student will apply learned materials in developing skills and applying concepts of 1) health promotion and disease; 2) communication; 3) analytical, contextual, and holistic thinking; 4) caring; 5) teaching and learning; 6) resource management; 7) leadership; 8) information literacy. Emphasis is on the biochemistry of normal nutrition, introducing elements related to common alterations across the lifespan as well as the nurse's role in therapeutic nutrition practices to meet a person's nutritional needs during illness.
