FILM 2000: Acting for Camera and Stage (3)

This course introduces techniques and skills of acting for film and theater. In this course students will explore the acting process, and develop basic skills in acting, analyzing, improvisation, visualization, breathing, and relaxation as well as a working vocabulary of terms used in acting in film in theater. Students will work in various genres (e.g., night time soap, science fiction, filmed drama, comedy) while also addressing technical problems posed by the different types of camera shots (e.g., close-up, two-shot, establishing shot). Recognizing that the dynamic field of film is a useful tool for communicating in any arena, this course also serves as an excellent opportunity for students to sharpen their public speaking skills.
