Academic Standing Policy

After grades are processed at the end of the end of a term, the academic standing for each student is calculated, including the student's academic grade point average (GPA).

The GPA level to maintain good academic standing shall be 2.0 for all undergraduate students. Students whose GPA level falls below a 2.0 who have completed less than 30 hours will be placed on academic warning. Students placed on academic warning will be provided information about academic resources available for assistance.

Students whose GPA level falls below a 2.0 who have completed 30 hours or more will be placed on academic probation for one semester. Students placed on academic probation will receive a copy of the suspension policy so that they fully understand their responsibilities and the consequences of their actions. The notification of academic probation will contain the locations for the posting on the North Georgia website of the dates of the Academic Review Committee meetings.

Following the semester of probation, students whose GPA continues to be below 2.0 will be academically suspended. Students who are suspended in fall semester are eligible to return the following fall semester. Students who are suspended in spring or summer semesters are eligible to return the following spring semester.

When a student is suspended from the University, the student shall have the right to appeal.
