The course prepares the student to conduct culturally sensitive comprehensive health assessments of diverse populations. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition, processing and interpretation of data collected from clients of diverse ages and cultures. Diagnostic reasoning skills are developed with consideration of client's cultural/ethnic background. The impact of health beliefs, values, heredity and environmental factors on the acceptability of health care practices is analyzed. Laboratory experiences will focus on the physical examinations of selected clients.
