Greek Life (Fraternities & Sororities)
Membership in a Greek organization provides students with tremendous opportunities for lifelong friendships, leadership, social networking and development as well as the chance to help others through philanthropic events and community service projects. Our Greek students are scholars, athletes, and campus leaders. They are Cadets and civilians, as well as residents and commuters. Greeks positively contribute to, and benefit from, North Georgia College & State University collegiate experience.
NGCSU currently hosts seven national fraternities (Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Nu), one local fraternity (Sigma Omega), and five national sororities (Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu and Sigma Kappa.) The university has a deferred-recruitment program that requires students (freshmen and transfer) to attend NGCSU for one semester, adjust to college life and establish themselves academically, before participating in recruitment to join a fraternity or sorority. Formal recruitment takes place in January of each year.
