NURS 7160: Cultural Competence in the Community (1)

This course is created around a cultural competence process model (Campinha-Bacote, 2002) which consists of 5 constructs: cultural awareness, cultural knowledge, cultural skill, cultural encounters, and cultural desire. Students select a service learning site, local, national, or global, where the cultural background is different than their own. Web-based dialogues or seminars will be used for faculty and student exchange addressing student experiences and an analysis of the cultural competence process model.
