The purpose of this course is to present the theoretical and clinical basis of common chronic health problems found in adults through the life span. Adult health promotion and disease prevention strategies, to include advocacy and health education, to lower health risks and improve health disparities in rural and medically underserved populations based on Healthy People 2020 is included as an integral part of this course. Additionally, an emphasis is placed on the use of evidence-based practice and ethics to guide clinical reasoning. Clinical experiences will provide opportunity for application and integration of theory in practice settings and development of collaborative relationships with other health care providers. Clinical experiences will occur in a variety of settings with emphasis on rural and urban underserved adults. Pre-requisite: NURS 7040
