An overview of the criminal court system, focusing on the policy roles maintained by its key participants. The course will pay particular attention to the nature of the court as an informal organization and the interrelationships that determine its operation. The models of the justice system will also be reviewed with an analytical examination of issues as they relate to due process, operational concerns and policy makers.
