A focused examination of development & changes in Western visual & material culture in this period defined as the modern era in art history, circa 1863 to 1945. Using a combined chronological, comparative & thematic approach, the course situates traditional & non-traditional art objects, artifacts & environments within the contexts of the individual artist's career, the broader stylistic period & the historical & cultural milieu in which they were made.
